Sam & Max: Freelance Police/Trivia
The Franchise as a Whole
- Name's the Same: Though they're both short, cute white rabbits, confusing Max for the OTHER lagomorph Max could be potentially disastrous.
The Comic
- The first issue was published by Fishwrap Comics, also responsible for Fish Police.
The Cartoon
- Executive Meddling: The changing of "The Geek" into a girl, from the fairly standard male nerd design he had in the Series Bible, because the executives wanted a major female cast member. In fact, the executives suggested turning Max into a girl. In regard to the firearms, however, it worked out better; in lieu of handguns, the two used bazookas, flamethrowers, and tanks at the drop of a hat. Word of God was that this was a change for the better.
- Hey, It's That Voice!: Sam is Bowser, Max is Rubeus and Delete and Lorne is Harold Green.
- The Geek is Sailor Moon herself, don't forget that! Well, the first one, at least.
The Games
- Hey, It's That Voice!: Sam in "Hit the Road" is Goofy and Pluto.
- The Narrator/Monsieur Papierwaite is also Tycho Brahe. He was also Max in episode 101, so in a way, Max is sitting across an incarnation of himself at the poker table, and of course results in Talking to Himself whenever Max and Tycho converse.
- Max in the German dub of "Hit the Road" is Bart Simpson.
- What Could Have Been: The trailer and assorted leaked clips for the canceled sequel are floating around on YouTube. Prior to that, a different splinter studio of ex LucasArts people, Infinite Machine, were working on concepts for a game titled Sam And Max Plunge Through Space, but they went bankrupt before it went into production.
