Tropes used in Sailor Moon CS include:
- Adaptational Badass: Mostly Usagi although almost all the main characters count
- Adaptational Attractiveness: Special mention goes to Umino Gurio/Melvin, who wears Nerd Glasses and was really unattractive in anime and manga, but now can be considered Hollywood Homely.
- Also Usagi's one overweight friend was considerably thinned down, for this exact reason--Kibate doesn't care for bigger women and said so.
- Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Not much is known now, but Usagi's parents are apparently not together and her father was in an accident.
- And I Must Scream: Jadeite suffers, just like in the original Anime, from the "eternal sleep", which is him getting trapped in a giant crystal and sealed away somewhere. Queen Beryl remarks that he will lose his mind over and over again without ever dying.
- An Ice Person: Amy/Sailor Mercury. As opposed to Defrosting Ice Queen-she's just shy.
- Art Evolution: From the first issue to the second, and again in issue 4 when the comics now in black and white
- Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: In chapter 8, with overt Cloverfield references.
- Character Development[context?]
- Chekhov's News: Chapter 7, Nephrite recalls mentally the report on Naru as he's planning on how to get a demon on her. The Report mentions that the moment of her natural Energy Peak will be on the date of 20-12-2012, at 1:42am. Guess what the date/time of Nephrite's death is?
- Civvie Spandex: Usagi even hangs a lampshade on how her Sailor outfit looks the same as her school uniform
- Darker and Edgier: from the anime it's primely based on
- Early-Bird Cameo: Minako and Artemis here
- A "Miss Meioh" appears in Chapter 2. That you, Pluto?
- The rainbow crystals and the associated youma are also appearing earlier than they did before. And just to make things crazier, several of them are appearing at once.
- Engrish: Kibate's native language is not English. In 90% of the comic, it's impossible to notice. In the camera segments, not so much. His English is at other times, is excellent.
- Genre Shift: From the original's shoujo and sentai formula to shonen sentai. Better Than It Sounds.
- Good Scars, Evil Scars: Jadeite has two: the vertical slash down the eye from his fight with the Mask and a disfiguring burn scar on one half of his face from getting blasted with one of Salior Mars's attacks
- Handsome Lech: Nephrite
- Heart Is an Awesome Power: Of course. Then again, when it's connected to street fighting...
- Les Yay: Kibate apparently ships Rei/Usagi and love dropping a bit of Ship Tease
- Lady of War: Luna
- Mr. Exposition: the purpose of Umino
- Mythology Gag: Usagi's ringtone is the English Sailor Moon theme song.
- Next Sunday A.D.: Since chapter 8, it has been confirmed Sailor Moon CS takes places in December 2012, while the comic itself started in December 2006
- Panty Shot: Kibate seems fond of these. However, the uncut version of Sailor Moon had its share as well.
- Playing with Fire: Rei/Sailor Mars
- Police Are Useless: Averted, the police are investing the monster attacks and a cop is willing to help out Sailor Moon and not ask questions.
- Reality Ensues: The police get involved with the attacks, the monsters leave bodies, there is property damage and the Senshi and the victims are visibly affected by the attacks and people do get injured.
- Secret Keeper: Interestingly, Naru knows, but Usagi has no idea about that.
- Squishy Wizard: Ami does not have much stamina for running.
- Voluntary Shapeshifting: Luna can turn into a cat or human.
- Shock and Awe: Makoto/Sailor Jupiter
- Shout-Out: In Chapter 8 for Cloverfield.
- In Chapter 4, where a newly scarred Jadeite talks about "regaining his honor".
- Smoking Is Cool: Rei smokes, according to Word of God.
- It's arguably averted as long as you read the artist's comments, since Kibate said that smoking is gross and people shouldn't do it. As well, except for one piece of promotional art, Rei hasn't yet been seen smoking, so it's not like it's had much impact on her characterization yet.
- Ten-Minute Retirement: Usagi in issue 4
- Took a Level in Badass: You literally get to SEE each of the sailors doing their level up. In the "Ding!" manner.
- Word of God: Kibate states Rei is a smoker
