Robert Pattinson/YMMV
- Alternative Character Interpretation: His view of Edward Cullen as a self-loathing creeper with massive self-esteem issues.
"And the more I read the script, the more I hated this guy, so that's how I played him, as a manic-depressive who hates himself. Plus, he's a 108-year-old virgin so he's obviously got some issues there."
- Not to mention Pattinson himself: crusader taking a stand against a vile franchise, or ungrateful little twerp who badmouths his employers while cashing their cheques?
- To be fair, when he auditioned for Twilight he was unaware of the fandom and didn't know what he was getting into.

- Broken Base: Interestingly averted. Despite just how Love It or Hate It the entire Twilight franchise is, he's actually been able to find fans both in the pro- and anti-Twilight camps. He has the Twilight fans simply by playing Edward Cullen, and he has quite a few of the anti-Twilight fans on his side because of his obvious disdain for the franchise and some who simply feel bad for him for having to deal with what might be the most insane fanbase in history.
- He Really Can Act: Watch Goblet of Fire.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: It's rather ironic that he played a character called Jacob after playing a character with a rival of the same name.
- The Woobie: After hearing about his fear of the Fan Dumb, don't you at least want to give him a hug, if not hide him at your house where he can be safe
and take a bath?- He was quoted in an English magazine summer 2010 as saying that he's worried one day one of them [his fans] will have a syringe. Whether to get his blood to drink or drug him, he didn't say, but the fact that there's even that option to consider is some nice Fridge Horror
