- Crossover
- Gratuitous Foreign Language: Harry's multi-language conversation with Dumbledore in Chapter 3.
- New Powers as the Plot Demands: The author has gone on record saying that he never liked Harry losing Parselmouth because of not being a Horcrux anymore. Harry's Thing With Languages is his response to that.
- Omniglot: Harry displays his ease with speaking seven languages in one conversation in Chapter 3. He is oblivious to his talent, thinking he spoke in English the entire time.
- Translation Convention: Japanese conversations are written in English with [brackets].
- Schmuck Bait: Discussed in Chapter 6
- ↑ The French translation is incorrect. It should be:
Dumbledore: Êtes-vous rendu compte que vous venez de parler en anglais, japonais, espagnol, allemand, italien, et maintenant en français?
Harry: Non, j'ai parlé en anglais tout le temps.
