Ranbir Kapoor
Ranbir Kapoor is a Indian actor who works in the Hindi film industry. He is a member of the famous Kapoor dynasty: his grandfather was the legendary actor-director Raj Kapoor, his parents are the famous actors Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, and he is cousin of notorious stars Karisma and Kareena Kapoor.
Ranbir debuted in 2007 in the very much maligned Saawariya . While the film failed with critics and flopped hard, he was consistently praised on his acting skills and on-screen charisma, and in turn said role earned him a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He was then hired by Yash Raj Films to star in 2008 romantic film Bachna Ae Haseeno which would become his first commercial success. He would finally get actual acclaim for the titular role in Wake Up Sid in 2009; he would win the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor for that and his other roles of that year in the films Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. He would be nominated as Best Actor in the Filmfare Awards by his Michael Corleone-like role in the commercially successful 2010 political thriller Raajneeti.
From 2011 to 2013 Ranbir enjoyed commercial and critical sucess, and he starred in several high-grossing films on each individual year: the musical Rockstar (2011) where he played an aspiring singer; the comedy-drama Barfi! (2012), where he starred as a joyful deaf and mute man; and romantic comedy Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013). The two former earned him consecutive Best Actor awards at Filmfare, with Barfi! also earning him a Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor; the latter grossed 2.95 billion rupees, establishing it as one of the highest grosser films in history.
This success, however, was followed by a series of films that were, at best, modest grossers, and at worst, notorious flops. While his acting in Bombay Velvet, Tamasha, Roy (all from 2015), and Jagga Jasoos (2017) was widely praised, his only actual hit in this period was the Karan Johar's romance Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in 2016. Ranbir made a career comeback in 2018 when he portrayed Sanjay Dutt in the biopic Sanju, which grossed over ₹5.79 billion and is his biggest commercial success to date.
Has a running semi-offcial jodi with Deepika Padukone, with he has costarred in Bachna Ae Haseeno, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Tamasha.

- Coming of Age Story: He seems to be typecast into an awful lot of these.
- Dawson Casting: Due to his youthful looks he tends to be cast as characters younger than him. The worst case was in Jagga Jasoos, when he was cast as a late teenager when he was way over 30 when the filming began (said film has a very Troubled Production, so Ranbir went from 32 to 34 while interpreting a character about half his age).
- Romance on the Set: He began dating Deepika Padukone when both starred in Bachna Ae Haseeno, albeit that relationship didn't last. Later, he began dating Katrina Kaif, whom he meet while filming Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani but they apparently didn't actually hook-up until years later. They were definitely dating while filming Jagga Jasoos, albeit they break up during that time period.
