Rambo/Characters
John Rambo
Played by: Sylvester Stallone
- Anti-Hero Type IV-Type II
- The Archer - Of explosive 'grenade-tipped arrows, no less.
- Badass: The 80's embleme.
- Badass Grandpa: In the Fourth Movie.
- But Not Too White: In the novels, Rambo was mentioned as being half-Native American.
- Deadpan Snarker
- Determinator
- Good Is Not Nice: No it's not...
- Honor Before Reason
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold
- Knight in Sour Armor
- Large Ham:
- "NOTHING IS OVER! NOTHING!"
- "They would have RAPED her 50 times, and cut all your FUCKIN' HEADS OFF! WHO ARE YOU?! WHOUHANNYOYOU!?"
- Lightning Bruiser
- Manly Tears: End of First Blood.
- One-Man Army: The definitive western example.
- Punch Clock Hero
- Shell-Shocked Veteran
- Sociopathic Hero: Especially in the first movie.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: In the fourth movie - although he is still one of "the good guys" - he is portrayed as more rude and cynical than in the first three movies.
- Considering everything he's been through up 'til then, it's perfectly understandable that he'd be a left a little bitter.
- Villain Protagonist: From a Certain Point of View in The First Movie.
- Warrior Poet: In the last Rambo movie.
Col. Sam Trautman
Played by: Richard Crenna (1982-88)
- Badass Grandpa: In The third movie.
- Colonel Badass
- Morality Chain: Usually the only one who can talk Rambo out of his more screwed up moments.
Co
- Action Girl
- Stuffed Into the Fridge
Sheriff Will Teasel
- Hero Antagonist: He is performing his duty defending the well being of his town, after all, and still genuinely believes so as he goes about at the expense of Rambo.
- Subverted somewhat since he's also The Bully to a certain extent, as the reason Rambo goes on his rampage in the first place is because of how he and his deputies mistreated him for no good reason. Played straight only in that after Rambo goes nuts, he needs to be taken down.
- Jerkass
- Knight Templar
- Well-Intentioned Extremist
Schoolboy
- Friendly Sniper
- The Heart
- The McCoy
- Nice Guy
- Token Good Teammate: The only unambigously kind-hearted and unselfish person in the band of mercenaries rescuing the missionaries.
- Warrior Poet
- Wide-Eyed Idealist: Averted; actually, he's the only idealistic character in the movie that still kicks ass.
Major Tint
Played by: Maung Maung Khin
- Complete Monster: And HOW! The first thing this guy does is to coldly watch as his men force prisoners to walk into a mine field before gunning them down. Into their OWN minefield, mind you. Later, he orders the brutal slaughter of a whole village, and feeds one of the missionairies to the pigs. Seriously, "asshole" is this guy's only character trait. Unfortunately, the character's depiction is Truth in Television, as the actor who portrayed him is Burmese and experienced the government's atrocities firsthand. He's also implied to be a pedophile.
- Dirty Coward
Sarah Miller
Played by: Julie Benz
- Break the Cutie: Still feel like helping people now?
- The Chick
