Raising Hope/YMMV

• Crowning Music of Awesome: "You Can't Always Get What You Want" for the season 3 finale. Perfect for both the Tear Jerker of Lucy winning custody of Hope over the Chances and the Awesome Moment of Lucy getting hit by a bus.
• Ear Worm: Watch episode three. Get "Istanbul" stuck in your head for the following week.
• Fan Disservice: Maw Maw running around topless is a Running Gag.
• Fridge Brilliance: Why does Maw Maw know all the skills she does, notable mechanical skills? Given her age, she'd likely have been Rosey The Riveter worked in a factory during World War II building military machines.
• Ho Yay: The Episode "Spank Butts, No Spanks" involved Jimmy digging in Burts pants in order to get his keys back.
  • This makes the juxapostion of Burt spanking Jimmy immediately after that all the more squicky.
• Les Yay:

Sabrina: "You need to tell me another secret. A big one. Something like a summer camp sexual experiment."
Virginia: "...did you just tell me another secret?"
Sabrina: "...no."

• • Shelly(Under the influence of a Margarita) smacking Sabrina on the ass.
• Moe: Shelley (she is, after all, played by Kate Micucci).
• Paranoia Fuel: Both in-universe and out, the idea of spiders entering your ear and laying eggs while you sleep.
• Squick: The beginning of the second episode has a scene where Jimmy walks in on Maw Maw attempting to breastfeed Hope. To say nothing of her french-kissing her great grandson in the pilot, believing him to be her long-dead husband.
  • This is pretty much Maw Maw's entire shtick. Another "great" example is the episode where she thinks she's in labor (and Jimmy's dad ends up helping deliver... something.)
  • Burt giving his son Jimmy a several second-long kiss on the lips, then requesting he take off his pants.
• Tear Jerker: In Don't Vote for this Episode Burt and Virginia realized Maw-Maw was getting dementia when she chastised them for being late for her birthday dinner (which was days before) and was angry that Virginia's grandfather didn't call to tell her he was going to be late. Maw-Maw's reaction when Virginia told her he was dead is just so heartbreaking.
  • The look on Jimmy's face when he's forced to hand Hope over to Lucy, after losing the trial is absolutely heartbreaking.
• Villain Ball: After winning custody of Hope and getting Jimmy back, Lucy just has to chase Sabrina with a knife. Which ultimately leads to Lucy's death.
