Rain (webcomic)/YMMV
- Angst? What Angst?: Even though Rudy's parents sent him to a Catholic school to "cure" his orientation, he seems very cheery. His breakup with Rain, on the other hand...
- Ensemble Darkhorse: Out of the secondary student characters that appeared in Chapter Two, Holly was the most popular. This was lampshaded in Rain Delay.
- Vincent, Rain's transgender therapist and Fara's old boyfriend, is adored by many, especially trans people.
- Moral Event Horizon: Everyone, In-Universe and out, thinks Kellen irrevocably crossed the line when she cut off Rain's hair in her sleep to make her look like a boy.
- Protagonist-Centered Morality: Downplayed, but the LGBT characters in the story treat Father Quentin, Chase, Aiken, Debbie, and Kellen like irredeemable monsters, but almost all of them are shown or at least implied to have deeper reasons or be more sympathetic than they seem at first glance: Father Quentin may be harsh, but he offered help to Emily regarding her pregnancy. Aiken's issues with transphobia stem from him finding out his former fiancé was trans, traumatizing him, and he does try to make up for his mistakes. Kellen may have been a poor excuse for a sister, but it's implied it was because of abandonment issues rather than true prejudice, and did stand up to Chase. Debbie didn't seem to care about Rain's sexual identity until Emily was thrown into the mix, hinting her actions are motivated by jealousy. About the only one who can truly be considered a deplorable human being is Chase for knocking up one of the main characters, outing another, and generally refusing to take responsibility for any of his actions.
- Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Gavin and Aiken were at first very hated for not accepting Rain (and in the latter's case, breaking up with his fiancée for being trans), but Character Development hit both of them and became likable and sympathetic characters in their own right.
- The hatred of Kellen has been downplayed a little when she called out Chase for what he did to Emily, as well as suggestions that her transphobia stems from severe abandonment issues rather than just simple prejudice. Many fans acknowledge she isn't redeemed yet, but they're willing to give her a second chance, even hoping she'll get some Character Development just like her brother did.
- The Scrappy: Gavin and Aiken started out as this, but tons of Character Development made them Rescued from the Scrappy Heap big time.
- Kellen has proven herself to be a far worse Scrappy than Gavin and Aiken could've ever been. Not only she actively denies Rain's transgenderism, she even goes as far as cutting her hair in her sleep and calling her transgender identity as a "disgusting hobby". Needless to say, nobody, In-Universe and out, likes Kellen. Although given certain revelations, her status as this has been a bit more downplayed.
- Almost all the parents in this series are considered this, due to not accepting their LGBT children and making things worse for them. Even amongst them, Marcus (Rain's dad) is the most despised of them all, given he's the reason why Rain is such a Shrinking Violet, as well as instilling transphobic views in Aiken and Kellen, which led to the most heartbreaking conflicts in the series.
- Chase. Just... Chase.
- Some Anvils Need to Be Dropped: Mostly regarding LGBT issues.
- The Woobie: Rain. Whenever things go wrong for her, you just want to hug her tightly and tell her it's okay.
- Almost everyone has Woobie moments, but Jessica and Emily stand out. Jessica has several problems about her transition, as her family and fiancée (Aiken) abandoned her for this. As for Emily, her mother doesn't give a crap about her, leading her to become desperate for her approval, driving away a girlfriend in the process (Maria). And if that wasn't enough, she got pregnant and possibly will have to drop out of the school to take care of the kid.
