• Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: Pretty much anything involving Tateh. Especially "Gliding." *sniff*
  • "Sarah, my life has changed/Sarah, you've got to see/Sarah, we've got a son/SARAH, COME DOWN TO MEEEEE!"
• Crowning Music of Awesome: "Ragtime", "Make Them Hear You." The entire musical, really. Except "The Crime of the Century.
  • Excuse me? "Crime of the Century" isn't awesome? This troper humbly begs to differ. Wheeeee!
• Historical Villain Upgrade: J.P. Morgan
• Motive Decay: Coalhouse goes from seeking reparations for his car to terrorizing the city of New York as revenge for Sarah's death.
  • Lampshaded in the narration, where Booker T. Washington explains that Coalhouse choosing a target so wholly unconnected with his stated grievances was regarded as proof of his insanity.
• Tear Jerker: Almost any part of the show can turn on the waterworks post- "Nothing Like the City."
  • You mean post-Prologue, right?
• Too Good to Last: The outstanding revival closed less than two months after opening.
