Quills/YMMV

  • Complete Monster: Dr. Royer-Collard.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Dr. Royer-Collard overhears Bouchon raping Madeleine in his cell, then shuts the grate so that no one else will.
  • Or Was It a Dream?: The Erotic Dream scene, mentioned on the main page, is quite ambiguous and left open for interpretation. It holds traces of Writer Cop Out.
  • Squick: Naturally. Unless you're into that sort of thing.
  • Straw Man Has a Point: While Royer-Collard is a Complete Monster, he does make a single good point: he argues that the plays put on by the inmates exploit their vulnerable status, a point that could be legitimately argued. However, he has entirely selfish motives in saying this, the play was intended to mock him. Furthermore, at the end, he uses the inmates to publish the Marquis work, exploiting them far more blatantly.
