Prom Night/Trivia
- Follow the Leader: Original came in the wake of Halloween and the second movie took its cues A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise.
- Hey, It's That Guy!: From the 2008 version: One of the policemen is Stringer Bell from The Wire (actor Idris Elba).
- Hey, It's That Voice!: Do Kelly and Vicky in the second film sound familiar to you? That's because they played the English voices of a certain Moon Princess and her mother.
- Which makes these two clips from the second film Hilarious in Hindsight in a BIG way. Naturally, those two clips have become Memetic Mutations among the SM fanbase.
- Shout-Out: Many characters in the second film are named after horror movie directors: Craven, King, Carpenter, Henenlotter etc.
- What Could Have Been: The 1980 film was originally supposed to be distributed by Paramount, but they would have opened it in only 300 theaters. Avco Embassy Pictures gave a better offer with 1200 theaters, so the makers chose that company. Paramount would then release a little independent slasher called Friday the 13 th.
- Interestingly enough, Avco Embassy ended up only distributing the film in 300 theatres (by opening in a few markets each month, pulling the film and opening in new markets a month later) due to not having money to go wide immediately.
