Pitch Black (film)/YMMV
- Alternate Character Interpretation: Riddick isn't such a bad guy. In Pitch Black, he was following the search team, but then that last survivor shows up at the wreckage, and Riddick is mysteriously back there? And then he tries to save Zeke, too?
- Crowning Moment of Funny:
"How's it look?"
"Looks clear."
- they start to get up, a creature cries and goes flying just overhead while everyone ducks*
"I thought you said it was clear!"
"I said it looks clear!"
"Well... how's it look now?!"
"... Looks clear."
- When Jack asks him how to get eyes like his and he gives her his disturbing little story, Carolyn makes her go back up to the planet's surface. Riddick glances at Carolyn with a smile and says, "Cute kid." The look on Carolyn's face is priceless.
- Genius Bonus: In Pitch Black, Riddick-o-vision is in anaglyph 3d. Go get those red/blue 3d glasses, I'll wait. It's simply purple and blurred at the edges in all the other installments of the franchise, though.
- I Am Not Shazam: The flying alien monsters in Pitch Black are never named throughout the course of the film. Sorry, "bio-raptor" and "demon" are just fanspeak.
- Moral Event Horizon: Johns has two in Pitch Black. The first is when he steals the morphine from the crashed spaceship, so Fry's friend has to die in screaming agony. The second is when he suggests he and Riddick kill Jack and use her as bait for the creatures.
- The second is heavily implied to be the point where Riddick decides to kill Johns.
