Peter Pan no Bouken
Peter Pan No Bouken (in English, The Adventures of Peter Pan) is an Anime adaptation of Peter Pan produced by Nippon Animation, as a part of the World Masterpiece Theater.
While the story starts out similar to the original book, later episodes have new villains alongside Captain Hook--Sinistra, the Queen of Darkness, and her henchmen. The heroes also gain an ally in Princess Luna, a Princess of Light, who struggles with her heritage as the granddaughter and heiress of Sinistra.
Tropes used in Peter Pan no Bouken include:
- Animated Adaptation
- Awesome Moment of Crowning: Luna.
- Badass Damsel: Wendy is borderline Hot-Blooded in this adaptation. She yells at Hook when he has her prisoner, almost manages to go Talking the Monster to Death on him, and ultimately it's thanks to her Heroic Sacrifice that Princess Luna turns back to the side of good.
- Big Bad: Captain Hook, then later Sinistra.
- Dark Magical Girl: Princess Luna. Considering that she was raised by her grandmother Sinistra, can you blame her?
- Heroic Sacrifice: Like in the other continuities, Tinkerbell. With a twist, though: it's via using up all of her fairy Life Energy to destroy a Death Trap that is about to kill Peter, collapsing almost dead in his hands. When Tiger Lily and the Lost Boys step in, Peter hands the almost dead Tinkerbell to Tiger Lily and asks her to save her, before going to rescue Wendy; Lily takes Tinkerbell to the Fairy Realm and gets her cured.
- Girlish Pigtails: Instead of Disney!Wendy's brunette Princess Curls and another Wendy's Bob Haircut, this Wendy is a blonde with Mega Twintails.
- "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight: Wendy, towards the Face Heel Turned Luna. She almost dies when Luna stabs her in the middle of it, but it ultimately works.
- Magic Mirror: Wendy gets thrown into one. Then she finds Luna inside that mirror world...
- Names to Know in Anime: It actually has a very famous seiyuu cast: Noriko Hidaka (Peter), Naoko Matsui (Wendy), Chikao Ohtsuka (Hook), Yuriko Fuchizaki (Michael), Hisako Kyoda (Sinistra), Maria Kawamura (Luna and Tiger Lily), Sumi Shimamoto (Tinkerbell).
- Non-Indicative Name: Luna's a princess of light, not darkness.
- Plucky Girl: Wendy and Tiger Lily
- Romantic Two-Girl Friendship: Wendy and Luna, to a degree.
- Shrinking Violet: John takes Disney!John's quiet nature Up to Eleven.
- Super-Powered Evil Side: Princess Luna has one.
- Team Mom: Wendy.
- Tsundere: Tiger Lily, and how. Specially towards John
- World Masterpiece Theater: The part of the meta-series that was produced and released in 1989.
