Nodame Cantabile/YMMV

• Ass Pull: The resolution of Rui's storyline in the anime. Trust me, you're better off knowing.
• Crowning Moment of Heartwarming - So, so many, but the hug from the back at the end of the first anime and live action really takes the cake.
  • Another notable moment is when Chiaki crawls into Nodame's room sincerely apologizing that he missed her recital...and Nodame accepts it as he drifts to sleep on her lap drunk.
• Crowning Music of Awesome - Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" will never be the same again.
  • Not to mention episode 11, the entire first half of which consists of Chiaki and the A orchestra playing the hell out of Rachmaninoff.
  • Can we just give the whole series this and call it?
• Dude, Not Funny - Chiaki frequently uses physical violence against Nodame, played for laughs in the manner of a Boke and Tsukkomi Routine. In the live-action version especially, however, it comes across as less slapstick and a bit more disturbing...
  • Which is an interesting study in Double Standard since female tsunderes doing the exact same thing to male anime characters who act like Nodame for Rule of Funny are given a pass.
    • The Domestic Abuse trope had an entry about this, which dripped with misandry and Chiaki hate as well as Nodame Sue-fication. Phew, thank God it went away.
  • In one of the Paris-Hen episodes, Nodame even admits to playing up the Boke and Tsukkomi Routine simply because Chiaki's such a perfect Straight Man. Chiaki, needless to say, is not amused by this revelation.
  • And in another Paris-Hen episode, Nodame herself becomes extremely violent against Chiaki. Sure, it's played for drama, but did she really need to kick him in the head?
  • He's not the only one who lays the smackdown on Nodame, however. Masami once hit her for touching his instruments, and in the same episode Saiko mistook a drunk Nodame for a pervert and gave her an epic bitchslap to the face. Both are Played for Laughs.
• Ear Worm - "Allegro Cantabile". The Opening Theme is that awesome!
