No Reservations (film)

A 2007 Romantic Comedy starring Catherine Zeta Jones, Aaron Eckhart, and Abigail Breslin. Though like many romantic comedies it has a focus on the female character meeting the perfect man, that's actually the B-plot. The A-plot is said female character having to take care of her recently orphaned niece, which is rather upsetting to her Control Freak way of life.

Made as Food Network was rapidly becoming the 800 lb. gorilla of cable television, it capitalizes on the foodie trend that was rising to ascendancy at the time by revolving heavily around a restaurant and featuring a perfectionist chef with an attitude.

Tropes used in No Reservations (film) include:
  • Product Placement: The director just happened to slip a bottle of wine from his own vineyards into a scene and have the characters talk about it.
  • Shout Out: Nick wears orange clogs while working in the kitchen, just like Mario Batali.
