NeoQuest/YMMV
Neoquest I provides examples of the following (subjective) tropes:
- Anticlimax Boss: Faleinn is normally fairly difficult, but if you bring along the Keladrian Medallion...
- That One Boss: Archmagus of Roo.
Neoquest II provides examples of the following (subjective) tropes:
- Breather Boss: Several. The most notable of these are probably the Sand Grundo and the Revenant, mostly because you have new characters (Mispy and Velm, respectively) to help you out.
- Chaotic Neutral: Vilaria, a dark faerie, claims to be this.
- That One Boss: The Four Faeries in the middle of Act IV, to the point where many consider them to be harder to defeat than the final boss (who has twice the HP of the previous boss you just fought ten minutes ago and has All Your Powers Combined). Said many will Level Grind like crazy for this fight. Hubrid Nox is also rather tricky, though it's more that you have to fight your way up through eight stories to reach him and that he's more annoying than dangerous, due to his tendency to spam healing spells on himself. Fortunately, he's optional.
- Fine, fine, there's also Zombom. But it's understandable, considering you only have one character to control at that stage.
- That's not the main reason Zombom is considered That One Boss. He introduces a bunch of new skills and abilities that you've never seen before (hasting, healing, and magic attacks). Most of these can't be countered reliably, if at all, and what's even more frustrating is that potions that would've reduced the difficulty of the fight and a new party member that could have done the same only become available after you defeat him.
- Fine, fine, there's also Zombom. But it's understandable, considering you only have one character to control at that stage.
- Viewer Gender Confusion: Talinia has been mistaken for a male Eyrie. In a couple of cases, players had to send questions to the Neopian Times Editorial to get the mystery cleared up.
