My Life As...
A 1998 Hentai Manga by Suehirogari.
A young man named Yasunari, forced to live with his abusive father after his parents divorce, runs away, only to be taken in by 2 bisexual dominatrixes. He discovers, with their support, that he's a naturally submissive person, but not a doormat like he always thought, and with their love, grows as a person.
Meanwhile, his brother, who did not live with his father, is attempting to come to terms with his younger brother's perversions after discovering pictures of his brother in a BDSM magazine. Meanwhile, he starts to date a woman, a friend of the two dominatrixes, and enters into a DS relationship with her – with himself as the dominant.
What does the future hold for these two brothers?
Tropes used in My Life As... include:
- Abusive Parents: After a divorce, Yasunari ends up with their father, Tomoyasu ends up with their mother. The father turns out to be an abusive child molester, which leads to Yasunari running away from home. Unfortunately, no one thought to tell Tomoyasu about what happened, leading to him getting very upset at Yasunari.
- Freudian Excuse: Yasunari turned out submissive due to his abusive father beating it into him. Fortunately, he is happened upon by two experienced dommes who happen to be nice people.
- A similar excuse may be made for Tomoyasu, who turned out closer to his father than anyone would like to admit.
- Gender Flip: Of his typical plotline. "Submissive girl gets taken advantage of" is flipped to "Submissive boy enters loving BDSM relationship".
- Love Triangle: Oh boy. Fumi and Rino <-> Yasunari <-> Chie.
- Only Six Faces: Tomoyasu has the exact same hair and facial structure as Fukeda Mari, the female protagonist of Moonlit Exhibition, his first professionally published work. In his defense, Fukeda was meant to be a tomboy.
- Rape as Drama: Tomoyasu snaps when he discovers Yasunari (in drag) and Chie (not wearing underwear), leading to him force himself upon his tutor and soon-to-be girlfriend. Fortunately, she forgives him.
- He later repeats the action upon running into Yasunari at a sexy Halloween party in a maid uniform.
- Sand in My Eyes: In the epilogue, one of the things Fumi and Rino push Yasunari into doing reduces him to tears. When they start to genuinely panic at having hurt him, he recovers and acts like he was faking.
- Tenchi Solution: The series ends with Fumi, Rino, Yasunari, and Chie all dating at the same time, more or less.
- Where Are They Now? Epilogue: My Life As A Dog, a 2-chapter special that was put in the omnibus version of the book, and not in the original magazines. Yasunari is still living with Fumi and Rino, and they're starting to get him to open up to various "things" (including things his father forced on him), showing their closeness. They also show Chie the full extent of their relationship, and get her to join in as a domme.
- Wholesome Crossdresser: Yasunari crossdresses several times at Fumi and Rino's insistence, in each instance shown Tomoyasu happens to see him.
- Victorious Childhood Friend: Chie. In a subversion, it doesn't slow Fumi and Rino down at all – in fact, they "help" her win (by tying up Yasunari and forcing the matter, since her shyness was grating on their nerves).
