Mumbai Calling

INS Rajput is a "Kashin". Mumbai Calling is a cash-in.

After a 2007 pilot, this Mumbai-set Work Com dropped off the radar until Slumdog Millionaire came along. Suddenly, Mumbai was cool and an eight episode season was ordered.

Kenny Gupta (Sanjeev Bhaskar, also one of the writers) is a British-born guy of Indian descent who works for Teknobabble (see Techno Babble), a company that runs call centres in India. When a managerial vacancy comes up in Mumbai, his bosses decide to send him "home". They don't mean Wembley.

Filmed in the city, this 2009 ITV work comedy is actually fairly good. Especially the little bits where you hear some of their callers...
