Moviebob/YMMV
- Author's Saving Throw: In his review of True Grit, he takes back calling Michael Bay a douchebag. He still thinks Bay's a bad director, but that kind of crossed the line.
- Base Breaker:
- The Game Antithinker definelty qualifies. He's either a nice comedic divergence, or a annoying and pointless Take That to Moviebob's opinon of "hardcore gamers".
- Broken Base:
- "The Emperor Has No Clothes" & "Heavens to Metroid" have produced this.
- Not even to mention the Anti Thinker arc, and what that now has lead to.
- Bob's views on "Retake Mass Effect". Some feel that this was a welcome rebuttal to the more vocal elements of the gamer community, while others feel that he is Completely Missing the Point as to why people didn't like the ending to Mass Effect 3.
- Completely Missing the Point: Bob has taken a lot of flak for comparing himself to Sherlock Holmes in his review of the movie with the same name, most people seemingly overlooking the fact that what Bob was lampshading his own antisocial tendencies and his occasionally oversized ego. In other words, it was more of a Take That directed at himself than it was any kind of exultation or claim to superior intelligence.
- Crowning Moment of Awesome "There is one grave yet to be filled" - Cue Moviebob having Mario saying "Not yet." to the Grim Reaper.
- His epic reprimand of most people on Xbox Live.
"So I've got a message out there for every fucking troll with a headset and a copy of Modern Warfare: NOTHING excuses this kind of bullshit behaviour, ESPECIALLY being good at a goddamn FPS doesn't excuse this kind of behaviour. You are not a badass because you own a copy of Call of Duty, you are not "The Man" because you can swing around and pretend to virtual gun on a kill streak! You think you're so damn hardcore, go join the actual army, if you're such a badass gun slinging mother fucker! I bet you're in for a rude awakening if you did, kiddo!"
"The subwoofer was never meant to be weaponized."
- When he gives the Pool Cleaning Robot from Paranormal Activity Best Character of the Year in his 2010 Moviebob Awards Video.
- Everyone Is Jesus in Purgatory (It's called "The Game Overthinker", after all.)
- Hatedom: Quite a large one on The Escapist.
- He Who Fights Monsters: Many of his rants comes very close to what "hardcore frat boys" talk and act like (or at least what he think they do).
- Hype Backlash: Eventually received this, probably after his move to ScrewAttack and him going to The Escapist.
- Jump the Shark: The Game Antithinker "Arc"
- The Problem with Licensed Games: Discussed in ep 16, as advice to non-gamer gift-giver.
- Seasonal Rot: The Channel Hop to ScrewAttack has resulted in some weaker videos in some people's eyes. The Game Antithinker is considered being a Jump the Shark moment for some.
- Straw Man Has a Point: Discussed in "Building A Better Gamer." To paraphrase, gamers may not be the violent psychopaths waiting to happen that politicians tend to portray them as but they're also not helping matters by being grody, disturbingly rude sociophobes.
- Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Bob's review of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has him refer to it as the movie that "broke him". However, it rings a bit hollow since he did think the movie was better than the original which makes it hard to believe it was so bad to merit two videos about how the Amazing series is awful and everyone else is wrong about the third Raimi Spider-Man movie.
- Even if some of the films are justifiably bad, his rants against some of the DC Extended Universe films, Batman v Superman in particular, just makes him come off as a broken record.
- His numerous Twitter rants where he categorises Middle America and the working class as Always Chaotic Evil who are preventing his perfect utopia from coming to pass comes off as fascist and at times sadistic, especially when he mocks people who are losing their jobs to outsourcing and automating. His How to Fix the Terminator Franchise video is actually the nicest way he's ever talked about these views.
- Wangst: Some feel him saying that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 had been the movie that finally "broke him" is basically this.
- Also, his infamous contempt for almost everything that he talks about related to the 90s, considering his Freudian Excuse (he went to high school in the 90s and was bullied a lot there).
- His three part look back at Kevin Smith's career, as well as his discussion on So Bad It's Good movies in relation to Tusk left a lot of people sour. As Bob tried to explain why Smith was a Broken Pedestal to him, it became clear a lot of Bob's issues stemmed from him expecting more from Smith as a film maker than the director ever really wanted to be.
- His review of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice came off as him whining about the movie rather than a critical review. Him not going through his review of The Killing Joke without complaining about Dawn of Justice didn't help much either.
- His constant wangsting about Dawn of Justice and The Amazing Spider-Man films comes off as hypocritical when you take into account that he had previously made an Escape to the Movies video where he basically told people to stop doing the same thing with The Phantom Menace. If it's a movie you really hate, but he doesn't think is that bad, you should stop complaining about it and let it go, but if it's a movie he really hates, he'll complain about it like it's the worst thing ever, any chance he gets, and you're the tasteless idiot or brainwashed fanboy if you think he's laying it on a bit thick.
- Whenever he reviews a DC film, it's one of those situations that makes you say in a deadpan manner "here we go again" because whining about a DC movie seems to be his M.O at this point. Which is why is positive review of the Supergirl tv series was surprising.
