Metastuck

Metastuck is a Homestuck Alternate Universe fanfiction project based around a simple concept: what if personfications of four of the biggest outlets of the Homestuck fandom - namely the MSPA Forums, Tumblr, Deviant ART and the Homestuck General thread - played Sburb together?

The project primarily happens at 4chan's Homestuck General thread, and there is a Tumblr blog posting all the related content. There is no particularly strong overriding story arc progression as of yet - the story is mainly told through art and occasional chatlogs between the four players. The focus seems to be primarily on building up the characters, their interactions with each other, and how that affects their gameplay.

#Tropes

• Accentuate the Negative: By the Tumblr curator's own admission, there is a very strong tendency to play up the more negative qualities of each of the characters - MSPAF is obsessed with rules, canon and all things Andrew Hussie, HSG is a perverse jackass, dA is a weeaboo, and Tumblr is obsessed with portraying herself as the victimised minority. There's certainly more to them than that which comes across every so often, but they even had to specifically run a series of posts saying the characters "aren't all bad" to elaborate on them.
• Gag Penis: The White and Black royalty, as well as some underlings, as a result of Tumblr's prototyping.
• Known Only By Their Initials
• Morality Pet: MSPAF is sort of this to HSG.
• Mythology Gag: The exiles advising the four are previous MS Paint Adventures protagonists: Jail Breaker, The Bard, and Problem Sleuth.
• Physical God: It was quickly established that Tumblr went God Tier at some stage in the adventure, possibly because of HSG.
• Show Within a Show: Homestuck itself, along with everything else Hussie has ever done, fulfills this role to the point of influencing almost everything MSPAF does.
• Verbal Tic: Tumblr's tendency to say #things like they're tags on, well, Tumblr. Also, deviantArt's usage of Gratuitous Japanese.
• Weapon of Choice: As in canon, their Strife Specibi:
  • Morph Weapon / The Gunslinger: MSPAF's Key(gun)kind
  • Shock and Awe: Tumblr's Taserkind
  • Spork / Improbable Weapon User: deviantArt's Sporkkind
  • Grenade Tropes / Improbable Weapon User: HSG's Bombkind, and later - wait for it - Dildokind
