• Foreign Remake: was universally panned by those who had seen the original - the sentiment seems to be that of a pointless yet shiny turd. It certainly wasn't made just because the original was in French and some audiences are too lazy to read subtitle as the whole story was altered, which suggests that the 'point' - if it can be called one - was probably that it was made for those who weren't brave enough to watch the original.

• Tear Jerker: The shot of only Anna's beaten, practically unrecognizable face, as she remembers or has an auditory hallucination of a conversation with Lucie.

"How do you stop being scared?"
"Let yourself go, I think."
"You think so?"
"Let yourself go."
"And if I can't, will you be there?"
"Yes."
Anna: (out loud) "I miss you."

• • Based on the context, this is definitely more an auditory hallucination of what Lucie might say to Anna. And is the more poignant for it.
    • Also, the subsequent montage of Anna barely even reacting as she's given the awful slime and brutally beaten.
