Mario Kart 64/YMMV
- Awesome Music: The Staff Roll, such an amazing, happy and heartwarming song.
- The theme for Rainbow Road is also pretty catchy.
- Character Tiers: This game introduced a tier system into the series, but almost nobody likes the Heavy characters, who are incredibly slow and useless on turns and off-roads.
- The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard: On 150cc, you'd better not let the 2nd place driver get too far ahead, or else they speed up so quickly that you'll never have a chance of catching up, short of repeated Lightning bolts in a row.
- Contested Sequel: Many people consider it inferior to the original SNES game.[context?]
- Others consider it the part where the series began to Grow the Beard.
- Goddamned Bats: Banshee Boardwalk.
- Most Annoying Sound: Peach's lines of "Here-we-go!!!", "Peachy", and "Ayieee" can get pretty grating.
- That One Level: Yoshi Valley was a huge labrynth on narrow cliff sides, and the computer couldn't keep track of your places. Oh, and a huge egg crushes you..
- Rainbow Road is ridiculously long and it's got chain chomps on the road (though unlike every other incarnation, you can't fall off).
- Sherbet Land has those penguins.
- Urban Legend of Zelda: It was a fairly common belief that the Green Thwomp in Bowser's Castle was a secret racer.
