Love/Hate is an Irish drama series broadcast on RTE. It centres on a criminal gang in Dublin and their various dealings.

Tropes used in Love Hate (TV series) include:

• Affably Evil: Nidge. You see him interacting with his family quite a lot and he deeply cares about them. But, man oh man, does he ever have a nasty streak.
• Ax Crazy: Hughie. Justified in that he's a heavy cocaine user.
• Bastard Boyfriend: Stumpy. Darren could also be this, despite being technically being The Hero.
• Binge Montage: Nidge's stag do in Prague.
• Cliff Hanger: The first series finale.
• Cold Opening
• Cool Car: JP's dad has one in the garage. Hughie keeps asking to be allowed to drive it.
• Designated Hero: Darren. Over the course of the series, despite saying that he wants to get out of crime, performs more and more criminal acts, even he kills John Boy and it's no longer necessary. Rosie even finally notices this and leaves him for good at the end of the second series.
• Downer Ending: The end of series 2. Rosie leaves Darren because of what he's become. Also, Debbie, without John Boy to fund her heroin habit resorts to prostitution.
• Eighties Hair: Fran.
• Fan Service: There's a bit of it around, most notably Darren and Rosie's sex scene.
• Genius Bonus: Every character in the show shows a preference for the Glock, except in the opening scene, when Bobby gets shot by a masked man with a Beretta. It's only later in the series, we see Hughie carry one a scene or two before he's revealed as Bobby's killer.
• Hey, It's That Guy!: John Boy is Tommy Carcetti.
• Hookers and Blow: The party favours when John Boy throws a bash tend to be this.
• I Just Shot Marvin in the Face: When Hughie shows his gun off to Patsy, he removes the magazine, but neglects to remove the round from the chamber when he points it to his own head and pulls the trigger.
• Lock and Load: The opening scene consists of Nidge learning how to field strip a Glock 17.
