Kill the Poor/Playing With

Basic Trope: A member of the ruling class opts to handle poverty by allowing the poor to be executed.

• Straight: President Smith develops a plan to end poverty by allowing those in Trope Land who are below the poverty line to be gathered and executed.
• Exaggerated:
  • Smith to make the poor an Unperson after their execution has been completed.
  • Smith considers having his proposal expanded by including the global population of those under the line.
• Downplayed: Smith opts to have the homeless be put slavery, such as prison labor, rather than kill them.
  • Smith expels all poor people from his country/state/county/location.
• Justified:
  • Smith’s proposal was due to the discovery of a rebellion that could have the President killed.
  • A food storage forces Smith to seek plan in order to solve the problem, which sadly includes reduce the number of mouths.
• Inverted: Smith decides to have members of the wealthy be executed and could have their remains as a food source.
• Subverted: Smith’s proposal was just a scare tactic to prevent any form of rebellion from the poor.
• Double Subverted: The Secret Police begin looking and killing the homeless thought out the land, while Smith’s announcement draws away suspicion of his involvement.
• Exploited: John sees if there’s a paying job to exterminate the poor since he found a way to get away with killing people.
• Averted: Smith solves the poverty problem in the land without killing or criminalization the poor.
• Invoked: Smith’s plan was made to further his Zero-Approval Gambit.
• Defied: Smith will never allow the killing of the poor, even with situations that is tempting like a nation-wide food shortage.
• Deconstructed:
  • Smith finds out the poor don’t give up on the right to survive and have guerrilla tactics to do so.
  • Smith’s loses supports, even among the wealthy for his strategy. As a result, he’s either impeached and/or voted out of office.
