Kid Radd/Characters
A list of characters in Kid Radd and the tropes associated with them.
Radd
The hero of Kid Radd (the game and the comic), he's a hero sprite who initially fights to rescue his girlfriend Sheena. Forced from his world when the Moderators arrive to free him, he must adapt to life outside.
- Captain Ersatz: Of the hero of a lesser-known NES game, Totally Rad.
- Classic Cheat Code: Radd can unlock the Hoverboard with Right, Up, Right, A, Down, Down. (R U RADD?)
- Glass Cannon: Can unleash incredible firepower, but can only take four hits of any strength.
- Groin Attack: On Kobayashi
- The Hero
- My God, What Have I Done?: After destroying a Moderator ship pursuing him, the first time he actually killed someone.
- The Slacker: As a result of never making any decisions without his human around.
- Too Dumb to Live: He confronts the person who sold him the illegal code, and forces him to give him another. He ends up getting some corrupt code in the process and almost dies.
- Took a Level In Badass: Gets more competent at fighting as time goes along.
- Unwitting Pawn: Plays right into G.I. Guy's plan to destroy the Internet
Sheena
Radd's girlfriend.
- Catapult Nightmare: Of accidentally leaving behind some silent and immobile sprites, dooming them to death. It may have been All Just a Dream, but it's the product of some deep-seated doubts.
- The Chick
- Heart Is an Awesome Power: She can't attack or be attacked, enabling her to enter dangerous games and liberate their sprites.
- Stone Wall: As an NPC, is invincible but posseses no attack abilities.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Calls out Bogey for his callous remarks on Radd's arrest, but learns that it was a form of Tough Love.
Bogey
A minor enemy from Radd's game who is carrying a power-up
- Back From the Dead: Revived with the help of Radd's player
- Heroic Sacrifice: Forces Radd to kill him to collect his power-up and survive the Seer's ultimate attack
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold
- The Lancer
- One-Hit-Point Wonder
- Tough Love: After Sheena accuses him of being callous over Radd being arrested, he responds that Radd has to learn how things work in the world outside.
Gnarl
The main villain of Radd's game.
- Degraded Boss: By the time Radd faces him again, he's become strong enough that he's no longer a threat.
- Final Boss
- Mirror Boss: In the first form. Unfortunately, Radd's strongest attack is roughly equivalent to Gnarl's weakest attack.
- One-Winged Angel
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Finds Chimera Point by accident and leads Crystal there
- Villain Forgot to Level Grind: More in a personal development sense. While Radd has undergone Character Development, Gnarl is essentially still the same as when he left the game.
Captain QB
An officer for the Moderators, formerly from a fighting game
- An Ice Person: Super Freezeplay DX
- Anti-Villain: Type III; he's willing to sacrifice Radd to ensure the future of all sprites
- Face Heel Turn: Joins Crystal for a while
Itty Bitty
A shopkeeper in Hopetown
- Hammerspace: Can store an unlimited number of items, including entire ships.
- Heart Is an Awesome Power: His merchant-based abilities don't sound impressive, but they are useful at some crucial moments.
Dr. Amp
- Cool Old Guy: In appearance
- The Smart Guy
Joule
Amp's assistant, a bee girl.
- Damsel in Distress: Taken hostage by Kobayashi.
G.I. Guy
The founder and leader of the Moderators. He grows disillusioned with the violence inherent in sprites and wants to destroy the internet and real world.
- Broken Ace: The failure of Protos and Crystal's betrayal have embittered him
- The Comically Serious
- Humans Are the Real Monsters: He thinks this of players
- Kill It with Fire
- Hot Wings / Power Gives You Wings: Can fly on these
- Macross Missile Massacre: Creates a
- Mind Control: Can do this to his enemies once they're at low health. It also enables...
- Nietzsche Wannabe
- Ramming Always Works: He does this to Radd, resulting in him losing some of his health, but weakening Radd to the point at which he can mind control him
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: Lampshaded when Radd says he had a somewhat accurate view of the problem but a "really insane view of the solution"
Crystal
A low-level enemy sprite from an RPG
- Bad Boss
- Big Bad
- Dangerously Genre Savvy
- The Starscream: Overthrows G.I. Guy and later, betrays her own accomplice and immediate superior, QB
- Shoot the Messenger: Enjoys this quite a bit, but typically doesn't kill the messengers.
- Tyrant Takes the Helm
The Seer
A virus that gained sentience after expanding to every corner of the Internet
- Clipped-Wing Angel: Fusing to other sprites enabled him to be killed, which resulted in him crashing because of conflicting death parameters]
- Faceless Eye
- Grand Theft Me: On Crystal
- Hoist by His Own Petard
- The Man Behind the Man: Manipulated Crystal to obtain a powerful body.
- Omnicidal Maniac
- Womb Level: His base.
Kobayashi
The Discount Ninja, hired for $20 by some Moderators who wanted to pocket the rest of the money allocated
- Butt Monkey
- Flash Step: Is able to avoid Radd's attacks with it. Unfortunately, he can't hit anything with it.
- I Have Your Wife: Takes Joule hostage.
- Lethal Joke Character: Most of his attacks are flashy and never hit, but some never miss.
- Not So Harmless: After stowing away aboard QB's ship, he steals a gun and reduces Radd to 1 HP, only being stopped from killing him by Sheena's intervention.
- Took a Level In Badass
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Finds Chimera Point by accident and leads Crystal there
Radd's Player

- Author Filibuster / Character Filibuster: Believes that humans are, by nature, deeply flawed but can and must try to rise above their natures to do good.
- This Loser Is You: Laments that he spent too much time playing games when he was younger.
- Took a Level In Badass: Gets considerably better at the game as he goes along, eventually becoming able to win regularly.
