- Complete Monster: Kyuutarou Ooba. Literally.
- High Octane Nightmare Fuel: Monsters eating humans. Later scenes of Ooba Kyuutarou. Also, the opening scenes of episode 6 are downright horroristic.
- Episode 11 has a newly transformed Kazuma begging his terrified subordinate to kill him.
Kazuma: "KILL ME! KILL ME! PLEASE KILL ME!"
- The final episode shows Ooba transforming into a twisted, discolored mountain of flesh, while staring directly at the camera. And to top it off, he's calmly talking about how some things in life are too scary to properly observe.
- Jerkass Woobie: Kazuma. Starts out almost fully on the Jerkass side and gradually tilts into The Woobie as he begins to realize the full consequences of his actions.
- Moral Event Horizon: Ooba crosses this while wearing Mickey Mouse ears.
- Tear Jerker: The end of episode 9 and 12.
- The Woobie: It's a tough competition but Kazuma is arguably the biggest woobie in the show. Rie and Yuka come close, though.
