• Complete Monster: Even by the loose standards of the Mikura, Ushi-Oni is a real piece of work.
• Crowning Moment of Awesome: Too many to list here. Notable, however, is that the opening fight/credit roll sequence is one.
  • The Transformation Sequence, which is easily the most elaborate for any hero in ages, requiring an additional person to count it off, a Transformation Trinket with an eye, and catching a sword.
• Crowning Music of Awesome: The entire series.
• Fridge Brilliance: Why is Otoha insusceptible to pain? Never overtly explained, but then you remember that he's the child of an incestuous relationship. It's a genetic disorder!
• High Octane Nightmare Fuel: The Mikura, mostly. Specially Kamaitachi.
  • ESPECIALLY Kamaitachi.
• Nausea Fuel: The sound of someone wiping his ass. Yuck.
  • Episodes 4 and 5. To the point of episode 6 and the high-flying super-powered combat feeling like Mood Whiplash.
• Ugly Cute: Pretty much every single true youkai qualifies, but especially Amefurikozo, the childlike snail-spirit who serves as Nue's Morality Pet.
