Jumper (video game)/YMMV

The movie and book

  • Anvilicious: If you drink, join AA. If you know, are related to, or brush someone on the street who drinks, make them join AA and join Al-Anon yourself.
  • Crazy Awesome: Griffin, the British Jumper from the movie, everything he says & does is awesome & crazy & both. Lets see:
    • He beat two Paladins to death with a baseball bat while they had futuristic stun-gun things.
    • Took the body of one to his lair & talked to it while playing videogames (Throwing the controller at it when he looses).
    • Steals a car & repeatedly jumps while driving, at one point driving in mid air.
    • Goes into super rampage mode when Roland taunts him about his dead parents, jumps so fast that he causes lots of destruction & punches Roland through a wall.
    • Attacks Roland with a flamethrower twice, so much that Roland actually shows fear the second time, & would have put a Nuke through the jump scar to kill all of the Paladins & got into a super cool super powered fight to the death with Davy.
  • Ensemble Darkhorse: Griffin has the reputation to be far more popular than the main characters. His popularity resulted in a video game spinoff centered on him. Whether it's because he's such a Crazy Prepared Badass or because he's played by Jamie Bell or both is your choice.
  • Harsher in Hindsight (or maybe Funny Aneurysm Moment if you're that sort): Did he just... Drop a plane-hijacking terrorist from the World Trade Center...? Brr...
  • Heartwarming Moments: Davy and Millie get two good ones in the book. First, Davy confesses that his asocial nature is due to his horrific childhood and a near-rape by a truck driver he hitchhiked with, followed by Their First Time. Then, when they reconcile after his Broken Masquerade, he explains all about his Jumping and how his mother was killed by terrorists. She decides to rekindle their relationship.
    • They get one truly amazing one at the book's very end; Davy admits that his confrontation with his father and his Roaring Rampage of Revenge against terrorists haven't actually made him feel any better, and decides to enter therapy. Davy then gives Millie a lei before Jumping them to Hawaii for a romantic getaway.
  • Love It or Hate It: The movie adaptation.
  • Moment of Awesome: Griffin continues to throw larger and larger things via teleportation at the enemies, at times reminiscent of Dio from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and culminating in a double-decker bus.
    • Davy's, in the book: Scaring the terrorist who murdered his mother into surrender by dropping him off the World Trade Center - repeatedly. Also, Calling the Old Man Out. By jumping him to his mother's grave, taking the belt he used to beat him with, and forcing him to admit that his abuse tore their family apart. And not by whipping him with it, either; he smacks the ground over the grave with it, spraying grave soil all over the drunken idiot, screaming that she would still be alive if he hadn't driven her away. His father agrees, and enters AA that same day.
  • The Problem with Licensed Games: Jumper: Griffin's Story is an Obvious Beta if there ever was one, with too many Game Breaking Bugs to count. It hurts all the more for What Could Have Been — Jamie Bell voiced the cutscenes quite well, and the teleporting mechanic came within a hair's-breadth of being fun. Being rushed to market to meet the movie's opening date ruined it.
  • Tear Jerker: Griffin's Story has a subtle yet memorable one. Once Griffin starts hunting down Paladins, he keeps track of them by drawing photorealistic sketches - and eventually realizes that though he can easily recreate the faces of those who've been trying to kill him since he was a child, he can no longer do so for his parent's faces.
  • The Woobie: David, in the book. Millie finds him cute for it.

The Freeware Game

  • Awesome Music: The final boss theme from Jumper 2 and its remix in Jumper Redux.
  • Breather Level: Oddly enough for one so late in the game, 7-4 in Jumper 1. Yeah, there's a lot of spikes, but there's also a lot of golden arrows that'll renew your Double Jump.
  • That One Level: You will find one that you will have a lot of trouble with. Take your pick.
