Joyeux Noel/YMMV
- Awesome Music: Phillipe Rombi's score, especially "I'm Dreaming of Home."
- Considering two of the main characters are opera singers this is kind of a given.
- Complete Monster: Though this film is about the inner goodness of humanity, there are sadly two people that could be considered examples of this trope here: the bishop, who is pretty much Disney's version of Frollo in real life, and the Kronprinz (even moreso if one knows that he went on to support Adolf Hitler and use himself as Nazi propoganda in order to help maintain his own power.)
- Tear Jerker: It's a war movie, people, about the Western Front. QED, it is sad.
- The epitome might be in the end, that, as they are sent to certain death in Russia (for fraterenizing with the enemy), the German soldiers are still singing the song the Scotts taught them.
- The instant the alarm goes off at the end of the movie and you realise who got shot.
- "Christmas means nothing to me. I'm Jewish." That'll end well.
- "You're a grandfather."
