Invaded States of America/Playing With

Basic Trope: America is invaded and/or occupied in a work of fiction.

• Straight: As part of the People's Republic of China's campaign of global conquest, the People's Liberation Army occupies the mainland United States. Now, it's up to the American Resistance Front to to strike back....
• Exaggerated: America is invaded by a coalition of countries including Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, Syria, Myanmar, Venezuela, Cuba, and Zimbabwe.
• Downplayed: Hawaii and other American overseas possessions are invaded and occupied by a foreign power, but the continental US remains untouched.
• Justified: The USA has somehow declined economically, politically, and militarily to the point where foreign countries can project military forces into the country.
• Inverted: A work made in another country features a fictional invasion of that country by the US.
• Subverted: America and China are at war, but the fighting never reaches America...
• Double Subverted: ...Until the U.S military is routed and General Ming announces his intention to take the war all the way to the White House.
• Parodied: The United States is invaded by some nation that would literally have no chance of ever invading it, and the entire thing is played for laughs.
• Deconstructed: The invasion turns out to be low-scale and easily defeated, due to the logistical difficulties and military disadvantage involved in mounting an invasion of the USA.
• Reconstructed: We get to see plotting and execution behind the invasion, and it is depicted in a way that is logically feasible.
• Zig Zagged: After the PLA takes over Taiwan, the American public is afraid that they will invade the Western seaboard next. However, this doesn't happen, because China has been invaded by Russia. Before the Pentagon can breathe a sigh of relief, The South American Union invades with Chinese weapons and intelligence.
• Averted: No foreign soldier sets foot on U.S soil.
• Enforced: "We've got to show something shocking and unbelievable, like a hostile foreign power rolling tanks down middle-class suburban neighborhoods! And we'll have a whole cast of patriotic freedom fighters fighting to drive them out!"
• Lampshaded:
• Invoked: ???
• Defied: President Miller threatens the Chinese with full-scale nuclear war if they attempt to land troops in the US.
• Discussed: "I never thought I would ever see another nation invade the US..."
• Conversed: "The Russians have invaded? This is just like Red Dawn!
