Industrial Light and Magic/YMMV
- Award Snub: Their work on the Star Wars prequels and the Transformers series was ignored by The Oscars (though Transformers: Dark of the Moon could fix the latter).
- Crowning Moment of Awesome: The films they worked on have many instances. Listing all of them though, would take a while.
- Memetic Mutation: Four words: GIVE ME YOUR FACE! There's also other instances.
- Nightmare Fuel: Megatron from the Live action Transformers movies and the T-1000 from Terminator 2 are definitely the company's greatest examples.
- Special Effects Failure: It's bound to happen when you're a company that's been in business for 32 or so years. Some prominent examples include:
- The titular character of Howard the Duck is possibly the biggest qualifier.
- Most of the "Enhancements" of the 1997 Star Wars Special Editions (including the worst CGI this side of The Asylum with Jabba the Hutt in one [formerly] deleted scene). Fixed for the 2004 and 2011 special editions.
- The Scorpion King and Anubis Army in The Mummy Returns
- The aliens in Signs
- The wolves in The Day After Tomorrow.
- Most of Van Helsing; other (just as bad) effects were by other companies
- Edward's diamond laced face in the first Twilight Movie
- The prairie dogs & Monkeys in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
- The nameless Decepticons and the final battle between the revived Optimus Prime and The Fallen in Revenge of The Fallen
- The Bending effects in The Last Airbender
- Visual Effects of Awesome: Quite possibly even the Trope Codifier. They also owned Pixar for a brief period of time in the 1980s.
