House of Wax/YMMV

The 1953 film:

  • Adaptation Displacement: Most people don't know about Mystery of the Wax Museum, though it didn't help that it was thought to be lost until a print turned up in the late 1960s, and it was not fully restored until the 1980s. (It's a bonus feature on the 1953 film's DVD.)
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Jarrod's description of his new career now sounds like Leaning on the Fourth Wall, in light of the turn Vincent Price's career soon took.

Jarrod: I'm going to give the people what they want: sensation, horror, shock... Send them out in the streets to tell their friends how wonderful it is to be scared to death.

The 2005 film:

  • Complaining About Shows You Don't Watch: A lot of people pre-emptively loathed the film because of Paris Hilton. Hilton's bragging that the film was better than the 1953 one becuase it was Hotter and Sexier didn't exactly endear her to many.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: Most people only watched the film for the chance to see Paris Hilton get killed.
  • Nausea Fuel: Pretty much the entirety of the film.
  • Squick: One guy has a... peeling problem.
  • What the Hell, Casting Agency?: Paris Hilton? Really? To be totally honest though, Paris Hilton's character was the smart one in this movie. She didn't do a lot of the stupid things people normally do in a horror/slasher flick.
