Masanosuke Akitsu
Masanosuke is a skilled swordsman hailing from a prominent family. He is very shy and despite his incredible talent, he is often fired because of his clumsy and awkward behaviour around other people.

Yaichi
The charismatic leader of the "Five Leaves." A mysterious person, he dislikes telling about his own past and lives in a local brothel, protecting and flirting with the women working in there.

Matsukichi
Usually called "Matsu," he was once a lone robber and is now a member of Five Leaves. As a spy, he gathers information about their targets. He creates metal hair ornaments for women as a business to generate money outside of the Five Leaves gang and a pretense for spying.
- I Owe You My Life: To Yaichi, which is also the reason why he works for him, later he's also this to Masanosuke after the latter saved his life.
- Lolicon: Was mistaken for this when people thought he had the hots for Masanosukes little sister after he had given her an especially expensive hair ornament, which was actually just his way of thanking Masanosuke for saving him.

Umezou
Owner of a tavern where the members of Five Leaves meet and discuss their plans. Getting revenge on a man who made his daughter cry was the catalyst for the formation of The Five Leaves.
