Grammy Award
The Grammy Awards, or simply Grammys, are issued by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences in the United States. The name comes from the shape of the awarded statue, a small gilded gramophone. As with all of the major awards shows, the Grammys give far more awards each year than the Prime Time telecast can accomodate; technical categories and awards for less popular genres are distributed in a separate ceremony.
A Spanish-language counterpart, the Latin Grammys, was launched in 2000.
