• Complete Monster - The Elementary School Principal, Kuonji. Kidnapping, extortion, blackmail, child abuse, child slavery, etc. He's... not a good person.
• Crowning Moment of Awesome - Shiki's unrelenting conditions for the ESP while the former is carrying the dead body of his beloved Yuka. This is soon followed by Mikan's own selflessness.
• Crowning Moment of Heartwarming - This.
• Ensemble Darkhorse - MindReader-kun
• Les Yay - Mikan at times has pretty vivid fantasies about Hotaru.
  • What about the episode where Mikan rolls around in bed, hugging and kissing the pillow while repeatedly saying Hotaru's name in her sleep?!
  • Yuri. How can anyone forget Yuri?
  • Luna gets a whole lot of this towards Yuka in the flashbacks.
    • Even so, the author appears to steer toward a Mikan X Natsume pairing as the series progresses.
    • In chapter 132 Hotaru actually kisses Mikan, saying that she loves her more than Mikan thinks. Shocked reactions abound, in-story and in fandom.
• Moral Event Horizon - Arguably, Principal Kuonji (ESP). Many times.
• Tear Jerker - Most of the manga from about chapter 90 on (and other situations before that, possibly). Particularly Yukihira-sensei's death, and the aftermath
• Title Confusion - The series is called Gakuen Alice, but the school is called Alice Gakuen. The Animax dub simplifies this by calling the show Alice Academy.
  • This is a side effect of the way words in names flip around in Japanese/English translations. What they should have called it is Xanth Academy. (If you like this series you may just like "A Spell for Chameleon".)

• The Woobie - Mikan, especially when she first enters the school and has to bear plenty of snobbery from the other students and a crappy dorm room. Things gravitate from worse to better as the plot progresses, though she has friends to back her up and protect her heavily by then.
