Freddy vs. Jason/YMMV

  • And the Fandom Rejoiced: Freddy vs Jason, 'nuff said.
  • Non Sequitur Scene: When Freddy enters Lori's dream about the others wanting to sacrifice her, disguised as her father, to french kiss her. No reason why he's disguised as her father and no mention of the events of that dream from either of them.
    • Why is he disguised as her father? Just to add another level of Mind Screw. It adds to her fear and that's what he's all about.
  • Complete Monster: Freddy Krueger has stopped to be a comic figure at this time and showed off how evil he actually is. Surprisingly, it's averted with Jason; while he's the one who kills most of the characters, he's more of The Woobie than the villain.
    • At the end of the day, as Freddy learned, Jason is always going to be a traumatized, disfigured little boy acting out over the loss of the one person who cared about him, while Freddy has always been a twisted sociopath who prolongs the suffering of his victims for his own pleasure.
  • Epileptic Trees: The film's ending generated a lot of Wild Mass Guessing; Ken Kirzinger(Jason's actor) mentioned in the commentary that a fan had asked him if the ending represented Jason going to Heaven.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: Most people watch this film just for the fight, ignoring the forgettable humans entirely.
  • Motive Decay: Subverted in relation to the various Elm Street sequels, as Freddy returned to his traditional "killing kids for revenge" motive.
  • Take That: During an episode of Nick Cannon Presents Wild 'N Out on MTV, Kelly Rowland accepted a "Thanks For Nothing" award for Freddy vs. Jason. Although the skit intended to poke fun at some actors' more embarassing projects, Kelly accepted her "award" with a one-line Take That:

Fifty million opening week, thank you, ladies and gentlemen.
