FoxTrot/YMMV

  • Artistic License Animal Care: Zig-zagged. Jason occasionally gives Quincy stuff like mealworms and crickets. Iguanas are actually herbivores primarily. However; one gag-a-day strip shows him getting a bunch of fruits to feed Quincy, so it's likely he does know that they primarily prefer those.
  • Creator's Pet: Jason might be becoming this.
    • Ironically, before that happened, some strips (such as this one) had insults to the original Trope Namer.
    • Arguably, Andy, given how much she gets the favorable end of the Double Standard when compared with her husband, how rarely she is called out for her vices, and how often she gets to have the final word in debates even when she isn't necessarily right.
  • Funny Aneurysm Moment: This comic became less funny after the death of Timothy Treadwell.
    • Or, mileage varying as it will, more funny.
    • The strip dealing with Roger's nightmare about his stock accounts being worthless if donated certainly qualifies as well.
    • The strip dealing with the Seinfeld finale. Andy forces the kids off the couch due to their having school, despite their insistance that they won't budge until the finale is over, and then somewhat hypocritically assumes the primo spot due to "her not having school." Considering how the Seinfeld finale turned out, not to mention the negatives reactions towards the finale, Andy will certainly wish that she was still in school so she'd miss it.
    • In one early strip, when the company Roger's working at is cutting back and is laying people off left and right...while Pembrooke is giving himself a raise.
  • Genius Bonus: If we listed them, we'd be here all day. Let's just say that Amend is a physics major and it shows.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Pretty much any comic where Jason expresses enthusiasm about the Star Wars prequel trilogy is this, thanks to Hype Backlash. In one especially hilarious instance, he starts spreading false information in the hopes of getting an opening day ticket; one of his claims is that Lucas decided to remove all the CG effects, resulting in Jar-Jar Binks becoming "Jar-Jar Binks, Jedi Master of Invisibility". Now consider the Phantom Edit...
    • Also, the strip where Jason and Marcus attempt to pitch an idea to Hollywood of making a sequel to Titanic detailing a bigger, faster, and more safe one than before (as well as inserting a subtle Take That towards Paige Fox in the trailer) becomes even more funny when they actually did make a Titanic sequel in 2010, this time a Disaster-genre Film.
    • This strip is even better now that Disney actually has started distributing anime. This was even pointed out by a Gocomics user named DerkinsVanPelt218.
    • In one strip from June 1988, Peter calls a woman on the phone, who thinks he's someone named "Steve", causing Peter to ask who Steve is. Four months later, we meet Peter's best friend, named Steve.
    • Jason's idea of adding in a "Darth Jason" character to the special editions of the Star Wars original trilogy (who also becomes a Sith Lord) becomes either hilarious or not as funny when Legacy of the Force has Jacen Solo becoming a Sith Lord. Likewise, Jason becoming a Sith while Luke (who is Jason's older brother) remains a Jedi in his drafts definitely become hilarious when one takes into account Star Wars Battlefront Elite Squadron, which does have the main character (X2) becoming a Jedi and his brother (X1) becoming a Sith.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Peter can be a jerkass sometimes (for instant the Love Letter Lunacy arc)...but he's The Unfavorite of the family and the Butt Monkey of the Fox Trot universe. It's really easy to see why he's prone to Jerk Ass moments.
    • Also, some of Jason's more Jerkass moments towards Paige Fox become somewhat more understandable when it was revealed that Paige often tried to scare Jason with her teddy bear.
  • Magnificent Bastard: Jason.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: Paige and Morton's play was never shown onscreen after Paige made it into the cast.
  • Toy Ship: Jason and Eileen.
