Forrest Gump/Awesome
- Lt. Dan, legless, up in the rigging on top of the shrimp boat, in front of a wildly waving American flag, shouting at Hurricane Carmen and God Himself to dare and sink that boat. Not the crowning moment he set out to have back in Vietnam, but it's enough. Then, a few minutes of screen time later, he casually goes for a swim in the Gulf of Mexico.
- Forrest, at least, considers the swim to be the awesome part.
- Also doubles as a Crowning Moment of Heartwarming.
"I never thanked you for saving my life."
- Forrest's Crowning Moment of Awesome would almost certainly have to be when he breaks out of his leg braces, and runs for the first time.
- Let's also not forget the scene where Forrest, in Vietnam, runs repeatedly into the jungle looking for Bubba, pulling out people as he goes, and then after finally finding Bubba, runs out while napalm explodes all around them.
- Any scene for which someone wins a Medal of Honor, fictional or otherwise, is by definition a CMoA.
- Maybe not as impressive, but enough to make you go "YES!" Mrs. Blue, who comes from a long line of servants and slaves, receiving Bubba's share of the money and moving to Florida condo. With a white housekeeper.
"And y'know what? His momma didn't have to cook shrimp for anybody else again."
- Forrest and Jenny reuniting at the Lincoln Memorial is obviously a Crowning Moment of Heartwarming, but the image of a crowd of thousands cheering wildly for two people running to each other in waist-deep water, hugging after years of separation ... wow-ee.
- Coach Bear Bryant's line after Forrest scores a touchdown....and after knocking down the marching band.
Bryant: He must be the stupidest son of a bitch alive, but he sure is fast. HAHAHAHA!!!!
- Fictional or not, anyone receiving that kind of praise from one of the greatest football coaches of all time is quite an accomplishment.
- The scene where Forrest beats up Jenny's then boyfriend, Wesley. Forrest was already a fish out of water being a Vietnam Veteran among many anti-war hippies, but after an applauded reunion between Jenny and Forrest, Jenny introduces him to the Black Panther Party, who already seem wary of him for looking out the window even searching him upon arrival. While one member is loudly explaining to Forrest what the Party stands for, Jenny introduces Forrest to Wesley who dismisses him as a "Baby Killer" and gets into an argument with Jenny (Presumably over bringing Forrest.) while the member continues his explanation. Just from the yelling, the music and Forrest watching Jenny, tension is already rising. Just as the member of the Party finishes his explanation Wesley slaps Jenny, causing Forrest to rush in and pound the living hell out of him. Jenny stops him and both her and Forrest are let out of the building, with Forrest apologizing to the Black Panther Party, for the fight to begin with. Props especially go to the member talking to Forrest earlier, as he doesn't let members of the party interfere with Forrest during the whole ordeal, only silently telling Forrest and Jenny to leave in return.
Forrest: He should not be hitting you Jenny.....I'm sorry I had a fight in the middle of your Black Panther Party.
