Fisica O Quimica

Fisica O Quimica ("Chemistry or Physics") is a Spanish TV series (by Antena 3 channel) which ran from 2008 to 2011 and was about life in college "Zurbaran". The Tv series that showed love and hate, friendship and betrayal in the life of students and teachers, were awarded as the best series in Spain and have a cult status among a lot of viewers (especially homosexuals).

Show has been canceled. Drop of ratings (high rotation of cast during seasons cant help it) made "Fisica O Quimica" end in 2011. Controversial series showed themes important for all teens: relationships, sex, unwanted pregnancies, racism, homophobia, drugs, alcohol, relationships with teachers and parents. It is a good example of classic college TV series.

Tropes used in Fisica O Quimica include:
  • Abusive Parent: Cabano had one.
  • Betty and Veronica: For Miguel it was Blanka as Betty and Iren as Veronica. For Ruth it was Cabano as Betty and Gorka as Veronica.
  • Character Development:
    • Gorka. Started as just a jerk without any redeeming qualities. He did almost everything to make life of people around him hell. In season 3 he became much more humane after birth of his teachers child (he became a babysitter). His love for Ruth and lesson it teached him, his friendship with Fer during school play and later and finally birth of his own child and love for Paula finally made him good man.
    • Cabano with each season had more problems than any of his friends (to the point when he got cancer). Resulted in him being probably most strong and willing to life man in series.
    • Julio, on par with Cabano had his life incredibly difficult and with a lot of darkness. His father left him, so did his mother (who left house and money for Julio, but had no interest in what he is doing and probably forgotten about him, his brother comitted suicide. He also was nearly excluded from college for being in neonazi gang and attacking his teacher. What he did? He managed to finally redeem himself from his huge mistakes and became very sympathetic character.
  • Dark Secret: Almah, Miguel, Marina.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Many characters had it, but Almah had darkest.
  • Driven to Suicide: Ruben.
  • Cure Your Gays: Fer, by the goods of the whore powers of Yoli (And a bunch of Bishops who owned the network at the time). Thankfully, this nonsense lasted just one season
  • Heterosexual Life Partners: Blanca and Irene.
  • Bi the Way Everybody seems to be bi, or nobody seems to be, just depending on the season an the writer.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Gorka.
  • Moral Guardian: Quino. He started as nearly Fundamentalist, but with help of Character Development he became more complicated and open to new ideas.
  • Teacher-Student Romance: Irene and Isaac, Almah and Roke. Maybe David and Jorge.
    • Too many, actually. Writers seemed to be fond about that one
  • Yellow Peril: Reason why Gorka and Cabano don't like Jan.
