Fifteen Hours
Fifteen Hours is a Black Library novel[1] by Mitchel Scanlon. Due to a bureaucratic slip up, the protagonist Larn has been dropped into an extremely hostile war zone[2]. The New Meat has been assigned the goal of surpassing his life expectancy, which is a mere 15 hours. Unless he manages to accomplish this some soldiers refuse to even bother learning his name. The novel can be found as its own book or as part of Imperial Guard Omnibus: Volume One.
Tropes used in Fifteen Hours include:
- For the Love of God, Stay Awake!: The book opens with the protagonist in this situation. After that most of the book is a flashback that was about how he ended up in such an unpleasant situation.
- Hopeless War: The Imperium is fighting a lot of wars, and this one isn't getting much attention from them. The incompetence of command and the lack of resources makes the prospect of victory pretty bleak.
