Fan Dumb/Headscratchers

  • Any time a portion of the fandom ever has any complaint against a game, movie or show, no matter how valid, you can expect someone to put an entry in the page under Fan Dumb or Hate Dumb. Why is nobody allowed to have a complaint about anything without being called dumb?
    • There is a clear distinction between your question and the trope in hand. To use an example: Sonic 2006. That game is utter bile, and there are people that are White Knighting that monstrosity. The fans who can point out the numerous flaws consistently among the game, yet can find legitimately good things about it are the normal fans. The people who constantly defend the game even with overwhelmingly bad excuses or because of the background information ("It was rushed!" "The bestiality subplot was nowhere near as bad as it should be!" "You just have to learn how to control the ungodly stiff control and the bad camera angles!") are the Fan Dumb.
    • I may be the original poster, I'm not sure, seems like something I'd note. Anyway, that doesn't really answer the question. The question is that, some people cry Fan Dumb or Hate Dumb whenever someone complains about any aspect of something, no matter how valids. Say, I complain about an example of Strangled by the Red String, a former villain and someone who has a very bad history with him get together over the course of two episodes with the only development being one suddenly changes his personality. I've complained about that, and I was accused of being a Fan Dumb basher for it since its often targetted by Die for Our Ship type Hate Dumb people...ers, even though I explained each of my complaint and cited what was wrong with the way it was handled, even defended it from others who do Hate Dumb it when they go too far. The point is, I try to be sane and fair when I complain about things, and will make sure I can back every claim, and avoid ascociating with those who aren't as restrained, yet some people seem to cry Fan/Hate Dumb just because I disliked a very poorly executed Strangled by the Red String.
    • The answer is rather simple. In fact, I think it's one of the subsets of fandumb (I don't remember which one): Where a fan will accuse any criticism as being an attack on the show or he himself. There are always going to be dumb fans, so criticism will logically always be decried as fandumb by at least someone, when ironically such accusations could be fandumb in of themselves (if the criticism is in fact valid, respectful, and reasonable that is). As for calling a fandumb criticism fandumb being an example of fandumb... um... my brain hurts now.
