Everlasting Summer
Everlasting Summer (Бесконечное лето) is a Russian-language Bishoujo Game Visual Novel developed by Soviet Games. It is available in English since November 2014.
The player takes on the role of Semyon, an ordinary man in his late twenties who happens to read /b/ a lot. He lives his ordinary life when something completely unusual happens to him.
The game, built using the Ren'Py Visual Novel Engine, was first released as a Russian-language demo (consisting of the first two in-game days) on New Year's Day in 2010. The full Russian-language version of the game finally received a freeware release in December of 2013. An English version became available in November of 2014, when the game was released on Steam.
- Expy:
- Miku is... well, Miku.
- Elektronik and Shurik are the characters straight from classic Soviet sci-fi movies ([https:/www./imdb.com/title/tt0078673/ "Adventures of Elektronik"] and "Ivan Vasilyevich Changes Occupation" respectively)
- Alice is the Dvach-tyan, mascot of Russian 2ch
- Shout-Out: truly Reference Overdosed with many obscure elements.
- "Semyon" means "Same Person". And his route achievement is Forever Alone. In case you still can't tell, he is The Anon.
- The achievement for Ulyana's good ending? Attack on Pedobear.
- Look at the playing cards. Just.. look.
- Jacks are Team Fortress-styled.
- The 410 bus is a iichan's meme of "bus that goes straight to hell". Also HTTP Code 410 means "content is gone forever".
- To unlock the adult content in the original (pre-Steam) game version, you had to use the Konami code.
- The scene with Olga Dmitrievna scolding Alice? Remember the Green Elephant. Also some dialogues are copying the movie, but it has been lost in translation.
- The girls and a cancer.
- On Day 1, Semyon confuses Lena with Rena. The Miku route does elaborate on that.
- Every in-game achievement. Steam achievements are neutral, though.
- The backgrounds are filled with these.
- Look at the walls in Olga Dmitrievna's house. There's Fantomas, "Typical /b/-tard" poster and "The Oppressor" poster
- Olga Dmitrievna has a banhammer under her bed.
- Genda is very similar to Gendo Ikari
- Alice and Ulyana's house has "Stalin vs. Martians" and "Detroit Metal City"
- iichan logo on the 410 bus stop with Cirno on top.
- There's circled 9 symbol hidden on the wall in the undeground cave.
- Mindfuck: Semyon ending. You can get it if you fail every romance.
- EPIC FAIL: The official achievement for the bad Semyon ending.
