The Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung (German for "First Public/General Un-Insurance") is an Austrian fun rock band formed in 1977. During their beginning, they were very poor, but then suddenly became very successful, even drawing kids and old people to their concerts - which surprised even them. True, many of their songs are very funny, but they also make songs about political topics, which are more an example of dry humor or sarcasm, and sometimes reference mature stuff. Band members often changed, but main texter Thomas Spitzer has remained. Had a crisis in the late Nineties, when several prominent members left the band, but recovered and is still around.

Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung provides examples of the following tropes:
    • All Just a Dream: "Einsamkeit": A lonely guy in a bar for lonely guys is unexpectedly invited by a Femme Fatale for a night.
    • Bait and Switch: Like here: "It was exactly three days after Johnny's return from Palermo! Glumly, the barrel of his gun shined in the flickering light of the neon lamp. 'This time, I'll get you!' Johnny cawed. Then he readied the gun, aimed precisely, and in ice-cold blood, pulled the trigger...
Then he took the pink teddy bear he had won at the shooting booth, his girlfriend's hand, and they went to the cotton candy booth."
    • Banned in Bavaria: Their song "Burli", about a family living near a nuclear power plant which gives birth to a mutant (not like X-Men). The conservative Bavarian government forbad it, supposedly because "it made fun of disabled people". Yeah, sure. (Historical note: At this time, they tried to build a reprocessing plant for nuclear waste near the little town of Wackersdorf.)
    • Barack Obama: They also made a song about him, singing how he's Blessed with Suck and already draw historical parallels to Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King and Harvey Milk.
    • Basso Profundo: Thomas Spitzer
    • BBW: Parodied with their song "Ich bin so geil auf feiste Weiber" (I'm so horny for fat females)
    • Cross-Dressing Voices: Klaus Eberhartinger sometimes uses falsetto for this purpose.
    • Dumb Muscle: "Copacabana" parodies bodybuilders. "Ah hooga huhga hooga! Ah hooga huhga hooga!"
    • Eagle Land: Type 2 in "God Bless America":

"Anyone who doesn't gulp coke and feed burgers, has to be a bloody fucking terrorist."

    Mook: Hey, boss!
    Boss: What's up, Johnny?
    Johnny: There's fire!
    Boss: Fire? Yeah, right, Johnny.

(Cue the [gun]fire, probably killing them)
