Elvira: The Arcade Game/YMMV
- Goddamned Bats: The mosquitoes in the spider cave of Jaws of Cerberus are very annoying, pestering and nasty when suck your blood, also the skeletons in the catacombs are persistent and numerous, and the goddamned barbed ghosts...
- High Octane Nightmare Fuel: Both games were among the most frightening on the market when they were released, and years later they still have the power to scare. Some particularly memorable examples...
- Elvira I:
- Getting killed by the hawk, which results in a screen of first the hawk grasping an eyeball in a spray of blood - with its other claw clearly going for your other eye, then an image of your character with his eyes clawed out.
- Getting killed by the evil cook. The game over screen shows a boiling cauldron, with your head bobbing up to the top. (It´s more Nightmare Retardant if you think about it.)
- Elvira II:
- There's a scene in the mansion where you come across some shutters that open up into a pantry. You open them, and see nothing but pitch blackne-OH DEAR GOD NO. A degenerate leaps at you. His mouth is full of razor-sharp teeth, and zits the size of fingertips stream pus down his cheeks. You pass out, and wake up in a meat locker full of mutilated bodies. Three guesses as to who mutilated them...and then he comes back for more.
- The lower catacombs have these freaky blue ghosts that come flying out of nowhere, right at the screen.
- The scene listed under Fan Disservice.
