Dissidia Final Fantasy/Trivia

• Hey, It's That Voice!: Keith David as Chaos uses his voice for Goliath from Gargoyles.
  • At the same time, Laura Bailey is speaking with her Lust voice for Cloud of Darkness. Very appropriate.
  • Johnny Yong Bosch uses a voice for Firion similar to his Ichigo voice in Bleach. It also sounds remakably like his role as Lelouch at times.
  • Christopher Sabat is the voice of Garland and it sounds a lot like Piccolo... or Kurogane. Or a lot of his roles. Your choice.
    • Interesting fact, his Japanese VA is Kenji Utsumi, so no matter the localization, you're hearing General Alex Louis Armstrong's voice.
      • THE ACT OF KNOCKING PEOPLE DOWN HAS BEEN IN THE ARMSTRONG FAMILY FOR GENERATIONS!
  • Romi Paku voices Zidane in the Japanese version. Basically a playful thief who is as acrobatic as a certain height-challenged alchemist.
    • Zidane's English VA is Bryce Papenbrook...whose voicing yet another blonde that likes hitting on chicks.
  • Romi Paku also voices Temari from Naruto . . . it gets extremely interesting when you realize Kuja's voice actor is Gaara . . . hmmmm.
  • Kuja's JP VA also voices Zexion from Kingdom Hearts.
    • And Satoshi from D.N Angel
    • He also happens to voice another Ambiguously Gay White-Haired Pretty Boy Artificial Human with a love of music - Kaworu from Neon Genesis Evangelion
  • Dave Wittenberg as Kefka. You half expect him to start making bear puns.
    • Also, in the Japanese version, Kefka is voiced by... Buggy the Clown. Almost appropriate.
  • Cecil is Yuri Lowenthal. Imagine pitting Good Guy!Sasuke against Bad Guy!Kakashi!
    • Cecil is Ben Tennyson? That explains his transforming; he's using the Omnitrix/Ultimatrix!
    • Or, with The Emperor's voice actor, Simon against Kittan doing his best Lord Genome impression.
  • Kain is Liam O'Brien, and despite the differences in the voices, at times he's recognizably similar to Akihiko.
  • Considering that Ali Hillis voices Lightning, Liara T'Sonni seems to have obtained a gunblade and become human somehow.
  • The Onion Knight is Aaron Spann using a voice that is disturbingly close to Joshua's
  • It should also be noted that 3 of the vocal cast of the Dissidia games have voiced Superman. Christopher Corey Smith/The Emperor as Supes in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, Yuri Lowenthal/Cecil as him (and Superman X) in Legion of Super Heroes, and George Newbern/Sephiroth as him in both incarnations of Justice League (and also in cameos in Static Shock and The Batman).
  • Aya Hirano as Prishe. You'd half expect her to be god.
  • Shantotto is voiced by Candi Milo, also known as Nora Wakeman from My Life as a Teenage Robot.
  • Gilgamesh is ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL and has been baptized twice. Once in water, once in flame.
• I Knew It!: Though the rest of the series including the original Dissidia merely hinted or implied it, Dissidia 012 confirms 100% that all Final Fantasy worlds are connected through the Void and are part of the same multiverse.
  • In the same way, Gilgamesh, Shinryu and possibly Omega (Weapon) are the same entities whenever they appear, just taking on different forms as they travel between worlds.
• What Could Have Been - Initial trailers of the game showed plot-elements that never appeared in the game, such as a scene with the Emperor, Garland, Kuja and Ultimecia telling Squall and Firion about Cosmos' true nature being the one of a Goddess of Death, suggesting that Light Is Not Good. Also, the dialog before the fight between Squall and Warrior of Light at Memoria is about the purpose of the crystals, and the latter knowing something Squall doesn't, but that doesn't seem to be nice to know. In the actual game, though, all these elements aren't shown at all.
  • In another example, trailers showed Garland irritating Kuja and the two of them fighting. In the finished product, all that happens in a cutscene, and it doesn't go any further then them preparing to fight until Jecht shows up, at which point Kuja takes off.
  • There was also some backstage talks about the consideration of Lightning making it to the roster, but was shot down because Dissidia was released before XIII and Lightning's inclusion would spoil the skills that she'd use in the game. There's also the fact that they considered Seymour, but opted with Jecht instead since Seymour has more emotional links with Yuna instead of Tidus. Or also how Nomura seems to really wish Kain Highwind to be in as Cecil's rival, but thought otherwise in the last seconds and put Golbez instead.
  • And now with the prequel, the developers considered Eald'narche or Kam'lanaut to represent Final Fantasy XI on the Chaos side, but decided to go with Prishe, who was originally considered for the first game but was left out in favor of Shantotto.
    • The "Goddess of Death" point was eventually resolved in an Official Quest, where Cosmos comments that she's a Goddess of Death due to her existence keeping the cycles going while her warriors keep getting killed off each time.
