Digimon World Re:Digitize
A re-envisioning of Digimon on the PlayStation Portable to come out July 2012 and the Nintendo 3DS on June 2013. In the game, “Digimon” is a popular online game where you raise monsters and battle them. The main character is a fan of the game. One day, he logs into the game as usual when he gets an unusual email with some code in it. After decrypting it, he’s sucked into the Digital World, where Digimon are real. He, with his partner, explores the Digital World, trying to find out why he was sucked in in the first place. Digimon can die, they poop, and evolve.
Tropes used in Digimon World Re:Digitize include:
- Expy: The artist for the game is the same one from Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor, so the main character and the supporting female character look identical to Devil Survivor's protagonist and Yuzu, respectively.
- Spiritual Successor: To the very first and original Digimon World game for the PlayStation, down to how every aspect of the game plays, with the biggest change being simply the addition of the Mega/Ultimate level and the new story and characters.
