• Dueling Dubs: This began as early as the first trailer for Funimation's dub of The Animation. It goes far enough that NISA and Funimation's scripts are dueling each other, with Funimation getting rid of any Dub Name Change's (such as Genocider Syo for Genocide Jack) while preserving the cast's Last-Name Basis and "Super High School Level" over "Ultimate" titles.
• Fan Nickname:
  • The people at Something Awful like to call Yamada goon, supergoon, ultragoon, and so-forth.
  • The Masked Man has gained the nickname Monoluchador.
• Hey, It's That Voice!
  • Makoto is Shinji Ikari.
  • Ishimaru is Junpei.
  • Touko is Elizabeth.
  • Sayaka is Kirby.
  • Leon is Suzaku.
  • Hifumi is Teddie.
  • Aoi is Homura.
  • Chihiro is Toboe.
  • Kyouko is Mio.
  • Junko is Yukari.

  • Several voice actors are from Persona 3 and Persona 4, including Kosuke Toriumi (Ishimaru/Junpei), Miyuki Sawashiro (Touko/Elizabeth), Kappei Yamaguchi (Hifumi/Teddie) and Megumi Toyoguchi (Junko/Yukari).
• Technology Marches On: On episode 12 of the anime, the headmaster's DVD was replaced by an SD card. Upgrading the student ID cards to be multipurpose touch-screen devices that incorporate ID, map and evidence retention could also be seen as this.
• Trailers Always Spoil: One of the first trailers released for the official English release of the game makes it blatantly obvious that Leon is the first killer, as well as showing the lack of Sayaka and Junko in the first trial scene. Then there's the one that not only shows Makoto on the conveyor belt in "After School Lesson" getting closer to the crushing machine, but the parts where he falls through the trapdoor into the garbage room. To make it even worse, most of these things are also spoiled by the opening movie that plays every time the player opens the game.
