Cyborg 009/YMMV

  • Alas, Poor Villain: The Greek gods, the Psychic Assassin, Pyunma's old friend...
  • Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: At the end of the fight between 0010 plus and minus, 009 walks up to their burned bodies while talking about how they are brothers but could not come in contact with each other or else they would die. The next shot shows 002 through 008, all worn out from the battle and supporting each other by holding their hands and propping each other up with their arms.
  • Die for Our Ship: Yaoi fangirls really hated 003 (for a while). 009 x 003 fans really hated either Cynthia, Ixquic, Carl, or 002.
  • High Octane Nightmare Fuel: Ho boooooooooy, there is a lot of it. Specially in the Pu'Awak arc and during the collective Mind Rape scene in Gods' Wars.
  • Magnificent Bastard: Scarl, at first. After Scar's Badass Decay, Von Bogoot. Also, Cain from the Psychic Assassins arc.
  • Paranoia Fuel: The Black Ghost Organization has agents scouring the world for people they can make disappear. At least one of the main heroes (005 aka Geronimo Junior) was actually sold to the organization by his boss. Oh, and they're big fans of War for Fun and Profit.
  • Sympathetic Sue: For many, Princess Ixquic in the 2001 series. Her episode was so badly-handled that viewers, instead of bemoaning her sad story, wanted to strangle her.
  • Tear Jerker: LOTS of them.
  • Unfortunate Implications: 008's original design, despite the very anti racist tone of the manga in itself. Toned down in later adaptations, like the 1979 movie and the 2001 series where Pyunma looks much less caricatured.
    • G-Junior's backstory in the manga, however, avoid it. He was Genre Savvy enough to refuse a job offer because he didn't want to portray himself as a racist caricature.
