Curb Stomp Battle/Playing With
Basic Trope: A completely one-sided battle.
- Straight: An unprepared Bob encounters Drake, and promptly gets owned.
- Exaggerated:
- Bob is a Butt Monkey and encounters Drake, a massive dragon with lightning reflexes who literally tears him into his component molecules.
- No-Holds-Barred Beatdown
- Drake defeats Bob in one hit.
- Justified: Bob is too weak or too unprepared for the fight with Drake.
- Inverted:
- Drake encounters Bob. Initiate The Worf Effect
- Wimp Fight, when both sides would be the victim of a Curb Stomp Battle...if they had any fighting skill at all.
- How Much More Can He Take?, when both sides would be the person who does the curb-stomping...if it wasn't for the fact that both combatants are Made of Iron.
- Subverted: Bob pulls out a Heroic Second Wind.
- Double Subverted: ...but that was just a Hope Spot.
- Parodied: The battle is literally Drake just curb stomping Bob in a corner.
- Deconstructed:
- Drake is so powerful and bored, acknowledging this fact, he tries his very best to even the odds for Bob. But that wasn't enough.
- Alternatively, he is so confident with his own abilities that he doesn't even try.
- Reconstructed: Drake loves challenges, and because he encounters so very few, he recognizes the fact that he may start underestimating his foes abilities, and promises to always go full power when encountering even the weakest challenge. Overkill or not.
- Drake is the player character, who levels up by defeating common enemies such as Bobs.
- Zig Zagged:
- Pendulum War
- Drake is a supposedly powerful enforcer of a legion of ninjas, but Bob had no trouble kicking his ass, and then he says "I haven't even begun to fight", the battle rolled on until a distraction happens that leaves his normally protected weak point open for Bob's Special Attack... but it really wasn't that much of a weak point.
- Averted: The battle could go either way.
- Enforced:
- The author is worried Bob is looking like a God Mode Sue.
- The author felt the need for a Break the Haughty.
- Lampshaded: "This isn't fair, can't you cut off one of your arms?"
- Invoked: The McGuffin that Drake was going for was to greatly enhance his superior abilities, thus making every battle end like this.
- Defied:
- Drake intentionally plays weak to give Bob a chance.
- Alternatively, he could be weakened by Bob so that he could be given a chance against him.
- Bob runs for his life and gets away.
- Discussed: Alice takes bets on the fight between Bob and Drake, and the odds for Bob are something along the line of 100000 to 1.
- Conversed: "Why did Bob even bother to fight Drake? If I saw him on the street, I'd run like hell until he couldn't see me... then run some more."
