Costume Party
Costume Party is a "build it yourself"-style Platform Game by Hamumu Software and is the company's first dip into "online centered" gaming, which was a Halloween surprise. In similar fashion to LittleBigPlanet, the entire game consists of user-created levels that vary a lot in terms of quality, design and challenge. The basic object of every level is to get to the exit after getting all the required collectibles (candy corn, to begin with). The player character is a Kid Hero who can change into various costumes with the help of various costume cards, all of which boast various abilities ranging from hiding in the shadows to breaking bricks.
Tropes used in Costume Party include:
- Black Knight: Introduced as a boss character, a new feature introduced in the Fantasy Pack.
- Cosmetic Award
- Drop the Hammer: Bouapha, as with all his playable appearances.
- Eldritch Abomination: The Screamers.
- Elemental Powers: The Wizard costume has the elemental affinities of fire and ice and can switch between the two.
- Expansion Pack: Winter Pack, Dumb Pack and Fantasy Pack.
- He Knows About Timed Hits: There is a tutorial level for every costume.
- Improbable Aiming Skills: The Ranger costume is capable of this, especially when hanging upside down.
- Kid Hero: Kid Hallow
- Knight in Shining Armor: The Knight costume.
- Level Editor: The Creator's Pass grants this.
- Nintendo Hard
- Platform Hell
- Save the Princess: The Fantasy Pack includes a princess whose rescue is mandatory for level completion.
- Strictly Formula: The expansion packs all follow a predictable format: 3 extra costumes, 10 tiles/monsters that are unlockable through a Cosmetic Award, up to 12 other tiles/monsters, each belonging to a different theme and introduce various new gameplay opportunities.
- Technical Pacifist: The Happy Stick Ninja is unable to harm enemies.
